Southern Boys

So I have met the man I want to get to know. The one who kind of makes me weak in the knees and treats me well. My parents like him, my friends love him. The only problem is, we're having a little bit of trouble figuring out when we need space and we're both trying not to upset the other. It can make for tension and unhappiness, that is for sure... I'm trying to breathe because I like him so, so, so much!

Back in the Saddle Again

Well, I've gone on a couple of dates in the past few weeks and have somewhat realized that I am not comfortable with the entire prospect. My self-confidence definitely took a beating since my accident and I'm working harder at feeling good about myself, but it's not easy.

It doesn't help when you're excited about meeting someone and they turn into a creepy gropey nasty person. Placing my hand on their crotch - "See what you do to me?" ON A FIRST DATE.

Needless to say, I didn't call him back, email him or answer when he called me. (Although I did consider it. Ugh, I need to get my confidence back STAT!)

Sing Sing

So the other night I went on a date to meet a Circus performer guy I'd met online. He seemed cool and we knew people in common and had spoken on the phone a bunch of times. He always came to my local bar and tried to entice me out with promises of free booze, so finally I said yes. (Incidentally, I had been to that bar on Wednesday with a friend and he had stared at me the whole time, but I ignored him.)

So I decided that bar was too busy and loud, and we ended up at Sing Sing. He called it "too gay" and said it smelt like fish. So then my fabulous friend, Ben Gay walked in. We went to sit with him.......annnnnnnddddddddd DATE OVER!

He tried to pick up another girl at the bar while I was sitting with him. I'm happy though, I met the way cool owner, some crazy guy named Chuck and a bunch of other people.

I have declared it my new hang out.

Gay Zombie

Or maybe in the closet....

XXXX: well, I also love to dance in gay clubs, like Parking on Thursdays. It's like my philosophy about travel; if I see something awesome (lifestyle-wise), I am not afraid to latch onto it and make it mine.
but you've hit on something... I am a little non-dude like. Most of my friends are women, 'cause I relate well to "feminine" topics, like fashion and decorating and talking about feelings
don't tell anyone, but I don't like hockey or cars
they might take away my canadian citizenship if anyone finds out
hah, this is fun. I'm trying to teach myself advanced AJAX code, and trying to get to know you at the same time.
although I feel like I'm doing a lot of talking about me, but I swear I'm not self centered. In fact, I'm a great listener in person

I Have A LIFE!!!

I'm seriously starting to get annoyed with people who I've met online, and thank g-d not in person, who can't comprehend that my life does not revolve around them. Yes, I may be interested, but I have obligations, I just had the flu and I have a life that keeps me pretty occupied. If you get pissed at me ONCE about not answering you within your time frame and flip out on me, sorry, you lose.

Can You Say Freak???

Email #1:

What's up ? How are you this fine Sunday? Love can be so difficult.
Sometimes, It can be over faster than shit out of a goose.I would like to have a best friend
first and then work towards a long term reltaionship.I am an internationally
known nice guy.People call me "Mike Love" or if I am dressed in drag,"Michelle
Love" Anyway, I will always treat you with respect and dignity. Remember, it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.Have a fun day! love Mike

Email #2:

How are you today? For once in my life, I want to experience passion.
I want a true romantic romantic relationship.A Valentines Day wedding
would be so cool.Yesterday,I bought a new girdle.When I wear it,I feel so sexy.LOL! I hope you're having a fun Monday.Rock on! love mike

This guy raises a few questions/concerns: Is "Faster than shit out of a goose" really an expression? How does one become an "internationally known nice guy"? What is the deal with you dressing in drag? And would you steal my clothes?

Here We Go Again

So I have overbooked myself to keep myself busy so I don't obsess over meeting someone that I am interested in. I know myself and know that I can easily lose myself in daydreams of what can be.

After two days of almost no contact with Stephen, I had some fairly upsetting news and with my not feeling well and exhaustion, I pretty much lost it.

Figuring that it was now Monday and things getting back to normal routine, I could possibly have the second non-date with him and start seeing where this relationship is leading.

But no.

He has a friend who has apparently developed more feelings for him. And, you guessed it, he's interested. Being the one girl guy that is claims to be, it seems like I may not get my shot. And it's being blamed on semantics. If only we had met earlier he says.

A tearful phone conversation later, it seems like I may be given a chance since he is not that sure about her, and had liked what he knew of me so far.

I'm so torn as a) I really am attracted to him and b) I don't want to feel like I have to compete against someone. I really do want to take the chance, but I don't want to set myself up for bigger future hurt either.

But, knowing myself, I will take that chance. I have never been able to stop believing in love, so why start now?

And I Thought I Had Bad Dates...

Then I read this.

I Promised I Wouldn't Write This...

But I couldn't help myself.

I didn't want to go. I was in a bit of a cranky mood after several trying days at work and I haven't been feeling so great.

But I am so glad I did. He's interesting, sweet and a great guy. (So far anyway... Yes, I must always put a disclaimer.)

I could have listened to more of his stories about Africa or Alabama. Too bad it is a "school" night.

Best date, ahem, I mean non-date of this year FOR SURE.

Hopefully to be continued...

Just In Case You Were Wondering...

Ashy elbows and sketchy eyes are NOT hot!

That is all.

Dystopian Society In His Head

So it has been months of me exchanging missives with one Canadian author. First, I DETEST the word "Dystopian" and I think the concept is utter shite. But I digress. His voice, in a reading online, made me cringe and his writing was completely horrible. Greg still has not forgiven me for making him suffer with it.

But, bored, I decided to go out for a drink with him last night. I didn't want to and he insulted me numerous times via email before, but then I thought, maybe I am being too sensitive.

I should learn to trust my instincts more. He was a jerk and narcissistic to a fault. Like enormously so.

It was the longest hour of my life. He was clearly uninterested, cheap and rude.

Lesson for this date - never go on a date with someone who writes like that. Horrible.

And never trust a man with a beard.

A Grain of Truth

greg: you're the only person i know who uses i am into to describe someone she hasn't met
me: Well I am
Into his personality
He always calls me when I'm walking to work to speak to me before my day starts
It's sweet
And makes the walk less boring
greg: heard it
me: heard it what?
greg: its sweet becuase he
calls, opens the door, calls me, compliments my hair, ties his own shoe lace
me: lol
Yes, well they all have their good points
greg: lol
me: Until they no longer do
Then I'm over them
greg: 2 days
or less if the sexual advance is painfully awkward
or they have a small dick

Thursday, January 17, 2008

It's been a busy few days - but with friends, not dates. I've gotten random poke-ages on Facebook and some Zoosk alerts. (Application where you can meet people on Facebook.) Most people seem a bit odd - like first message, "Do you want to get a drink?"

Wow, um, can I know your name first?

An interesting Craigslist answer:

"Hi. here is me. L am 6’3 and 180 pound. L am from turkey,30 years old single.

Take care.

Please ignore the girl next to me."

Um, ok, I will? Why send that picture then?

But I have a few people who are highly interesting. One in particular. He's quite captivated my interest...

Will keep you posted.

Thursday, January 10, 2008

Well, so far my success on Craigslist has been good. I met a guy who is a writer and is taking me to a Habs game AND giving me writing pointers. I met a guy who I may have met in person before & we have friends in common. There were a few other people but these are the most interesting.

I've talked to a few random pokes from Facebook. All in all, I am happy about meeting new people.

Two movie dates already next week. Wish me luck!

Craigslist Update

I've randomly started meeting people through my random pokeage and also some applications I've added.

But some mini me midget Asian dude with the hugest HEAD I've ever seen keeps messaging me!

Be Still My Beating Heart!

I posted an ad on Craigslist this morning

Don't Burn Out or Fade Away

I was listening to Our Lady Peace last night on a nostalgia trip, and that one line struck me (as it usually does) as it really is how I live my life.

I'm a single girl who loves Vice magazine, reading chick lit, indie movies, house music, my macbook, has a Facebook addiction (at least I admitted it), loves dancing and dinners and is looking for that one person who won't mind her purse obsession and crazy friends.

If you think it's you, I'd love to hear from you.

And I've gotten some great responses, including one of the Vice guys (allegedly) but this one caught my eye especially:

Hey what’s up im new at this im 27 outgoing good job (36 hours)

OOH 36 hours! Excellent!!! F*** me now!

Random Poke-age

So, my random poking on Facebook has bore fruit. Well, kind of. At least now I am speaking with one of the randoms I selected. He actually looks kind of cool - if a tad younger than I am.

Let's see where this will go!

Crowd Reaction

me: I have a new blog
Diana: NEXT
haha that was awesome
me: lol, it was SOOOOOOOOOOO bad
Like whatever!
Plus he was talking about girls with mustaches and lesbians during our date
How weird
Diana: ..............what?
why would a guy wanna talk about a dyke's facial hair?
me: lol
I know!!!!
Diana: hahaha
I'd be like buddy your conversation sucks, you're now dismissed. get outta my face betch

Sleepless Nights

So after last night's date in futility, I felt really tired, but unable to sleep... After watching several episodes of Arrested Development, reading the updates on every blog I've ever read and even in bored desperation perusing Lavalife, I decided to do random searches for people on Facebook and poke random people.

One of my friends told me about his FB "stalker" (his words, not mine) and they are now going on dates. So, obviously for the sake of research, I will be poking cute randoms.

(How WRONG does THAT sound?!)

Response of the Day

I should have mentioned, I have placed a few ads on Craigslist to help along this project. They're all different, but all very much me.

I just got this email response.

"I am quite potent if thats what you are worried about hehe. Well i am quite capable which i can prove if you give me a chance."

Um... yes, please?

Not really though.

Pie Guy

I originally started talking to this guy right before he went home to his Ontario town for the Christmas holidays. I wanted to meet him at my local cool bar, Else's, but had a bad cold and decided it would not be too attractive to meet while I was hacking away. He did try to convince me though. But I still declined, knowing I would be miserable and that was that.

He continued to text with me, back and forth, over the month he'd been gone. I started to think, he is cute, but sort of lame. But then I would think, well, he is from Ontario. Let's give him a chance. Maybe THAT is what your problem is.

Then D-Day arrived. Today was the decided upon date. He arrived back in the city yesterday with friends. They left today and then he called up, and his date suggestion was, "Let's watch the Canadian Junior's Gold Medal game on TV." I politely declined and hung up.

I went shopping with a friend and decided to avoid the issue. But he kept calling and messaging. And then told me he was ON MY STREET. I thought quickly, as I had already decided I wasn't really interested. Told him a cafe we could meet for pie that was far enough away but still close by so I wouldn't have far to go.

Met him there and immediately did not feel anything. Spent a couple hours listening to his lame stories, all while thanking G-d I had been sat facing the street so at least I would have some entertainment.

He, like a gentleman, paid for our bill. I texted him to thank him afterwards and he replied, "Good luck in the future." I guess I wasn't the only person who didn't feel it.

Date-zilla Begins

On my ever growing quest to find someone to spend some quality time with, you know, dinner and a show, and NOT with a gay man, I am going to be kicking it up a notch. Plus, you know, it is nice to meet new people and discover new things. There is so much to do in this city, and people I know tend to gravitate towards the same activities. So this shall be my year of dates.

And so it has begun.... Enjoy!
